Two people were killed and three others injured after a van plummeted into a ravine in Theinni Township, Northern Shan State on 2 May, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The accident occurred between mileposts 208/5 and 208/6 on the Theinni-Kutkai Road in Theinni Township at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. A van with four people aboard was heading to Kutkai from Theinni and plunged into a 50 ft. deep canyon after the driver lost control of the car. Two men including the driver died on the spot and three others were slightly hurt in the incident.
The injured people were sent to a nearby public hospital and the deceased motorist identified as Myint Soe, 42 years old from Myinmu Township has been charged with reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
