A woman and an 11-month-old child died in a house collapse incident in India's central state of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday evening, a police official confirmed with Xinhua over phone on Wednesday.

The two-storey house collapsed in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas city.

According to Dewas' Superintendent of Police Shiv Dayal Singh, a total of 11 persons, including five women, were rescued from the debris of the collapsed house.

Rescue work continued through the night and was completed on Wednesday morning, said Singh.

It was the second building collapse incident in India this week. On Monday a building collapsed in Mahad, southwestern state Maharashtra in which 11 people were killed.
