THE Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC) presented road safety excellence awards to two YBS bus companies that maintained a record of zero accidents throughout 2025.

The ceremony was held on 27 February at the YRTC headquarters, and K2 million each was awarded to Konbaung Yangon Public Company Limited and Thet Yin Aung Transport Public Co Ltd.

“Last year, we did not include the road safety award. This year, we noticed that some companies had absolutely no accidents or injuries. The YRTC meeting decided to honour them. Therefore, we are presenting awards to them this year,” said U Lian Cin Mang, Joint Secretary of the YRTC.

This award was introduced to encourage companies to prioritize safety and ensure there are no losses of life or injuries caused by YBS drivers or traffic accidents.

Furthermore, the YRTC stated that they will increase momentum in 2026 to ensure drivers operate systematically, aiming to further reduce traffic incidents, fatalities, and injuries. — MT/ZN
