Nay Pyi Taw, June 12

A ceremony to celebrate 2019 world day against child labour was held under the supervision of Factory and General Labour Laws Inspection Department of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area at the community center of Pyinmana Township Information and Public Relations Department this morning.

At the event, U Nyi Tun, member of Nay Pyi Taw Council in his speech called for sector-wide collaborations to eradicate child labour, adopting long-term plans, stressing the essential need for education system practically applicable in workplaces. He also urged government departments, NGOs, community-based organizations, business companies and organizations to step up their efforts to eliminate the use of child labour.

 Then, Daw Su Myat Thazin, Daw Pwint Phyu Zin Thet and Daw Nyein Moe Shwe, who are assistant directors from the FGLLID, dealt with ongoing work programs to eliminate child labour, provisions on child labour promulgated in the existing laws. 

Also present at the ceremony were departmental personnel at township/ district/ region level, employers and employee representatives from factories, workshops, stores and work places in Nay Pyi Taw.—Soe Moe (IPRD)
