The 2022 ASEAN-ICT Forum on Child Online Protection was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 2 and 3 November.

Deputy Director-General Daw Khin May Nu of the De­partment of Social Welfare and a representative, representatives from the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (SOMSWD) and the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), officials from UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific Re­gional Office, experts from uni­versities, IT professionals in the region and the world and officials from technology companies at­tended the forum in person and online.

They discussed experiences of child online protection, child protection standards and plans, policies and procedures regard­ing Child Online Protection.

The 2022 ASEAN-ICT Fo­rum on Child Online Protection provided them with an opportu­nity to learn about the negative effects of children’s internet use, as well as protection pro­grammes. By using the internet, they will receive benefits such as being able to protect children from abuse. — MNA
