Myawaddy, 12 September
Thai officials handed over 242 Myanmar migrant workers - 177 men and 65 women who wish to return home to their Myanmar counterparts at the Myanmar-Thailand friendship bridge-2 in Myawaddy Township, Kayin State on September 11.
On the occasion, Myanmar officials shared knowledge about COVID-19 pandemic to the returnees after being welcomed and then they registered their information.
The returnees who are from Bago Region, Tanintharyi Region and Mon State were sent to Semyone quarantine centre in the town of Mawlamyine, Mon State. In addition, the returnees who are from other regions and states were sent to the Shwe Myawaddy quarantine centre in the town of Myawaddy, Kayin State.
If they are free of COVID-19, they will be sent back to their place of residence after being placed under 10-day observation at the quarantine centre. But the returnees with COVID-19 will isolate for more 10 days.—Zar Pyu Win(IPRD)
