The Forest Department, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, is working with local communities through initiatives like the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to combat illegal timber trade.
From 26 May to 1 June, a total of 25.36 tons of timber—including 4.80 tons of teak, 14.97 tons of hardwood, and 5.58 tons of other timber—were seized in Nay Pyi Taw and various States and Regions. Authorities also confiscated three vehicles and machines, and arrested five individuals in connection with the offenses. — MNA
