A total of 283 Chinese nationals who illegally entered Myanmar from neighbouring countries, including Thailand, and were involved in online gambling, telecommunications fraud and other criminal activities in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area, have been repatriated to their country of origin via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II, in accordance with legal procedures and humanitarian considerations.

Officials, including Lt-Col San Shwe of the Myawady District Administration and Management Committee, coordinated with relevant departments to verify records and ensure a smooth repatriation process. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Director U Kyaw Kyaw Than, of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, including Mr Wang Tianwei from the Criminal Investigation Department, and officials from Thailand’s Tak Province Immigration Office.

Myanmar authorities systematically handed over the relevant documentation to the responsible officials of the respective countries. The government continues to cooperate with neighbouring and regional countries and international organizations to take strict action against foreigners involved in online scams and criminal networks, while also ensuring the prompt repatriation of victims of human trafficking and other affected foreign nationals. — MNA/KZL
