A total of 28.4 million baht has been provided to Myanmar workers affected by a building collapse caused by an earth­quake in March 2025 in Thai­land and the compensation includes one million baht for each of the 27 deceased work­ers and 200,000 baht for each of the seven injured individuals, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The ceremony to provide humanitarian assistance to the families of those who died in the collapse of the Office of the Auditor-General building in the Chatuchak district was held on 2 March. It was presided over by U Zaw Zaw Soe, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand, and Dr Thonaphon Khongtheing, Pres­ident of the Lawyers Council of Thailand. Attendees included various Thai officials and the families of the victims.

 

According to the MOFA, a special committee was estab­lished with the agreement of the Thai Lawyers Council to facilitate compensation for the victims.

 

The ITD-CREC Joint Ven­ture provided one million baht each to the families of 12 Myan­mar workers. This event marked the fourth and final round of dis­bursements. In three previous rounds, the joint venture had already provided compensation to 15 deceased workers and sev­en injured workers.

 

Through the coordination of the embassy and the labour office with the relevant com­mittees, compensation has now been successfully secured for all 34 victims, totalling 28.4 million baht. — MT/ZN
