Pinlebu, 22 January
A 3-year old girl has died in a fire in Nabar Village, Pinlebu Township in Sagaing Region, according to a source from the local police station.
A police squad from Myoma Police Station together with eye witnesses rushed to the scene of fire based on an anonymous tip to check the situation. The fire broke out at a hut near Nabar Village in Pinlebu Township at about 10 a.m. on 21 January. A 3-year old baby playing with a gas lighter started the fire while she was alone inside the hut. The child identified as Ma Macy Phyo, daughter of U Soe Htut was found dead with multiple burn wounds in the incident.
Action has been taken against the hut owner over fire negligence by the local police station.—Lu Aung (Katha)
