300 tourists daily visit Taungthaman Lake, U Bein Bridge

About 300 local and foreign travellers now visit Taungtha­man Lake and U Bein Bridge, a famous destination in Manda­lay Region, on a daily basis and about 150 boats run daily for passengers, said U Soe Win, the secretary of the Taungthaman Boat Association.

 

Taungthaman Lake and U Bein Bridge are the most pop­ular destinations in Mandalay Region for both local and foreign visitors, and the number of tour­ists has increased since 1 April.

 

“The number of local and foreign visitors has increased since early April. There were about 150 visitors daily in Janu­ary. From 1 April, daily arrivals reached 300. Currently, many people have come to enjoy the sunset beauty of Taungthaman Lake. As the number of boat rid­ers increases, there are about 150 boats daily. We are now mak­ing preparations for the coming Taungthaman Lake Thingyan festival,” he said. Most of the do­mestic visitors to Taungthaman Lake and U Bein Bridge are from Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Taunggyi and Yangon, and vis­itors from Thailand, Viet Nam and Korea are the top foreign tourists. — ASH/ZN
