35th Chairs’ Meeting of ASEAN Capital Markets Forum held online

DEPUTY Minister for Planning and Finance and Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar U Maung Maung Win attended the 35th Chairs’ Meeting of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum online yesterday together with the Director-General and members of the commission.

 

During the meeting, Deputy Managing Director Ms Rashidah Sabtu of the Monetary Authority of Brunei, host country presided over the forum and other heads of ASEAN countries, representative of ASEAN Secretary-General Office and Asian Development Bank joined the event.

 

The meeting focused on the implementation of ASEAN Sustainable Finance jointly implemented by ASEAN Capital Market Development and ASEAN Capital Markets Forum, standards on the transition of capital markets, Sustainability Linked Bond, continuing standards on ASEAN Corporations and technical assistance of ADB for the development of ASEAN capital market.

 

Then, Deputy Minister U Maung Maung Win discussed the current work plans to develop the capital markets, participation in implementing the ASEAN capital market development goals and also thanked ADB for technical assistance to Myanmar.

 

The meeting also published the manual book for ASEAN Collective Investment Schemes (ASEAN CIS) and ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Country Report. Moreover, the ACMF, Insurance Regulators’ Meeting (AIRM), Senior Level Committee on Financial Integration (SLC) and WC-CMD organized ASEAN Taxonomy Board to draft the Taxonomy of ASEAN and set the principles for Board.

 

Moreover, the leaders agreed on the transparent information for the prioritized capital market expressed in ACMF Action Plan (2021-2025), implementation of transnational investment of ASEAN, interconnection of regional capital markets and more areas of cooperation for the development of regional capital markets.

 

Then, the Chairmanship of ACMF was transferred to the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia. The agreed processes will be submitted to the ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting to be held at the end of this month. — MNA
