The 35th Meeting of ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) began at Shwe San Eain Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 1 October.

During the second day session yesterday, Dr Ko Ko Naing, the Director-General of Department of Disaster Management from Myanmar, served as the Rotating Chairman of ACDM and MrKistoffer James E Purisima, the Assistant Secretary and Deputy Administrator for Administration from the Philippines, as the Joint-Chairman.

In the morning, the ACDM held talks with ASEAN Plus 3 countries— People’s Republic of China, Japan and Republic of Korea— on collaborative plans, with ASEAN Plus 1 of Japan on cooperation in disaster management and with representatives from UNDP and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on regional partnership programmes.

In the afternoon, the Governing Board of the AHA Centre held a meeting where Executive Director Ms Adelinal Kamal explained about activities of the centre on capacity-building training course in the regional countries, emergency assistance, information management and cooperation with the partner organizations.

The governing ASEAN members collaborated on the needs of AHA Center.
