A group of local authorities consisting of firefighters, members of the Red Cross Society, volunteers and departmental staff led by Deputy Township Administrator U Aung Kyaw Moe took part in the relocation of 37 houses in Shwezinkyun Village, Danubyu Township in Ayeyawady Region on 29 July.

No casualties or damages were reported in the riverbank erosion. The houses became relocated due to riverbank erosion of the Ayeyawady River. in width. Some residents from 54 households will be resettled at appropriate sites after a discussion is made between departmental officials, village administrators and farmers. Firefighters also assisted flood victims in reconstruction of the houses.

Coordination will be made with concerned departments in order to prevent a primary school from riverbank erosion as the rising water level of Ayeyawady River reached near the school.—Aung Thu Hein
