The 3rd Dawei National Day was held in accordance with the COVID-19 protection directives of the Ministry of Health and Sports yesterday morning in Dawei, Taninthayi Region. Attendees first saluted the flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the national flag of Dawei, and the Presiding Monk of Pyawbwe Monastery, Sayadaw Bhaddanta Wisondara, delivered an opening remark.
During his opening remark, Regional Chief Minister U Myint Maung said celebrating Dawei National Day in more than 30 places in Taninthayi Region in accordance with the health regulations of COVID-19 shows the identity of Dawei people, and he said he wished to celebrate the National Day in more ways than now in coming years. Honorary Chairman Retired Lt-Col U Tin Mya, Chairman of Dawei National Unity Committee, explained celebrations of the event through videoconferencing. Dawei National Day marked the successful Dawei National Convention in 2017.
The messages from the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Nai Thet Lwin, Dawei Association (Mawlamyine) and Dawei National Development Association (Thailand) were read out. Chairman of the Dawei National Unity Committee U Aung Myo expressed words of thanks and Patron of the Committee U Aung Myint and wife handed over K100,000 for the celebration of Dawei National Day to Patron U Tun Kyi and received the certificate of honour.
