Hlaingbwe, 12 May

 

Four people—one man and three women—were killed and 15 others injured after a truck plummeted into a ravine in Hlaingbwe Township, Kayin State on Saturday.

 

The incident occurred near a monastery in Htilon Village in Hlaingbwe Township at around 8:30 a.m. on 10 May. The truck carrying 18 people was driven by a man named So Moe Kyaw, 19 years old and fell into a 30 ft. canyon after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Four people instantly died on the spot and 15 others were hurt in the incident. Among the injured people, two women were seriously injured.

 

All the injured people were transferred to a public hospital in Hpa-an. The truck driver is being questioned over the reckless driving by the local people.
