Ngape, July 16

A total of 464 acres of summer paddy cultivated with water from Mann Chaung Reservoir in Ngape Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, have been harvested, producing 42,211 baskets with an average yield of 90.97 baskets per acre, according to the Township Agriculture Department.

A total of 779 acres of high-yielding summer paddy varieties, including Aung Naing Toe, Manaw Thukha, Yadanar Toe, and Sin Thukha, were planted during the season. Among the harvested crops, Sin Thukha recorded the largest production with 28,737 baskets from 313 acres.

The Township Agriculture Department is providing technical support to farmers to reduce post-harvest losses, improve productivity, and strengthen local food security. The Summer Crops Agriculture Implementation Committee is also overseeing harvesting and production activities.—Ma Yu (Ngape)
