THE opening ceremony for the Weightlifting Ref­eree and Coach Training Course 1/2026 was held this morning at the mul­ti-purpose hall of the Gold Camp Sports Training Centre in Nay Pyi Taw. Jointly organized by the Sports and Physical Ed­ucation Department and the Myanmar Weightlift­ing Federation, the course runs under the Ministry of Sports Affairs.

The event was at­tended by Union Minis­ter for Sports and Myan­mar Olympic Committee Chairman U Ye Myint Tun, alongside Deputy Minister U Nyi Nyi and federation officials. In his opening address, the Union minis­ter stated that the course aims to raise national weightlifting standards, urging participants to ful­ly engage with both the theoretical and practical lessons.

Four instructors will train 32 participants dur­ing the five-day course, which runs from 22 to 26 June. — MNA/MKKS
