Altogether 59 illegal migrant workers—56 men and three women, who were arrested for residing in Thailand illegally without proper documents and pardoned by Thai King in an amnesty were handed over by Thai authorities to Myanmar counterparts at the border town of Kawthoung, Taninthayi Region this morning.

The returnees were accepted by Myanmar departmental officials and local authorities from relevant departments.

Also present on the occasion were officials from Kawthoung District General Administration Department, the Labour Department, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force and the Disaster Management Department and others.

The returnees came back to their places of origin after they were provided with healthcare services. The returnees are from Taninthayi Region, Yangon Region, Ayeyawady Region, Mon State, Rakhine State, Kachin State and Bago Region.— Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
