SPORTS events of the fifth Na­tional Sports Festival 2024 con­tinued at relevant stadiums and gymnasiums in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday.

 

Officials presented prizes to winners in the men’s and women’s marathons, discus, 5,000-metre races, 800-metre races, 400-metre hurdles and 100-metre races at the Inter-Ministry level at Wunna Theikdi Stadium.

 

The Inter-State and Re­gion Wushu sports were held at Shwekyapin Gymnasium. Win­ners were awarded in men’s and women’s Jianquan and Nanquan events and men’s and women’s Taijiquan events.

 

The Inter-Ministry Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament continued quarterfinals at Wun­na Theikdi stadium’s volleyball court.

 

The Inter-State and Region men’s and women’s singles Kata events, men’s and women’s team Kata events, women’s 61-kilo­gramme and above Kumite and men’s under 55-kilogramme Ku­mite events were held at TC-1 Karate hall of Wunna Theikdi stadium.

 

At the same time, Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex hosted the second leg matches of the Inter-State and Region traditional Chinlone contest, snooker 6 Red singles and double, 9 Ball Pool singles and double, snooker 15 Red singles and billiard double, and snooker 15 Red double of the billiards and snooker event.

 

Moreover, the semifinals of the Inter-State and Region men’s and women’s table tennis tourna­ment took place at the boxing hall of Wunna Theikdi stadium.

 

The Inter-State and Region U-21 men’s football tournament continued to semifinals at the training grounds 3 and 4 of Wunna Theikdi Stadium. Quarterfinals of the Inter-Ministry Men’s Open Football Tournament were held at Paunglaung, Shwekyapin and Lewe TC-3 stadiums.

 

The first-round knockout matches of the Inter-Ministry men’s futsal tourney took place at the futsal ground of Wunna Theikdi Stadium.

 

Men’s regu Sepak Takraw events at the Inter-Ministry level were held at the Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium A.

 

The Inter-State and Region Tennis Team-wise Tournament continued semifinals at the cen­tral tennis court while the In­ter-State and Region weightlifting contest was held at the weightlift­ing gymnasium of Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex.

 

These sports competitions were enjoyed by union-level dig­nitaries, deputy ministers, state and regional ministers, depart­mental officials, those from rel­evant sports federations, staff members, students and sports fans. — MNA/TTA
