According to the Myanmar Police Force, police destroyed illegal poppy cultivation near Lwetansit Village in Palawpake village track in Hsihseng Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, southern Shan State, on February 19 this year.

A combined team, including Police Deputy Superintendent Win Zaw Oo and members, the Tatmadaw members from local military installation, and officials from the Township General Administration Department, Fire Services Department, Department of Agriculture, Department of Forest, Department of Land Records and Department of Health jointly destroyed poppy fields. These included 14 acres of blooming poppies (approximately three feet tall) one mile east of Lwetansit Village in Hsihseng Township.

A total of 65 acres of opium plantations in Hsihsang Township were destroyed between February 15 and 19 this year.—Township IPRD
