A ceremony to mark the 65th An­niversary of World Meteorologi­cal Day was held at the Ministry of Transport and Communica­tions in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

State Administration Coun­cil Member Deputy Prime Minis­ter Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, Union Ministers for Agriculture, Livestock and Irri­gation, for Science and Technol­ogy, and for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement attended the event, along with deputy minis­ters and officials from relevant ministries.

 

SAC Member DPM Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo delivered a speech at the event.

 

After his remarks, attendees viewed a video message from WMO Secretary-General Pro­fessor Celeste Saulo and a video clip commemorating World Me­teorological Day.

 

The General presented awards to the first, second, and third prize winners in the article competition. The General, along with the attendees, viewed the displays of Department of Me­teorology and Hydrology.

 

In the afternoon, staff mem­bers of the MoTC, MoALI, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conserva­tion, the Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Ed­ucation discussed 18 papers on meteorology, hydrology and seis­mology. — MNA/KZL
