STATE Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Admiral Tin Aung San and his wife attended the reception ceremony commemorating the 76th Anniversary Republic Day of the Republic of India at Wyndham Grand Hotel in Mingala Taungnyunt Township, Yangon Region, yesterday evening.
Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur, his wife, and officials warmly welcomed Admiral Tin Aung San and his wife, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw and his wife, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Chairman U Paw Lwin Sein and his wife, deputy ministers and their wives.
The ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, followed by a welcome speech from the Indian ambassador.
Indian cultural troupes also performed traditional dances at the event.
After the ceremonial procedures, the Admiral and his wife cut the commemorative cake together with the Indian ambassador and wife.
The ambassador and his wife hosted a dinner for those who attended the ceremony.
Also present at the event were Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and his wife, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein and his wife, regional ministers and their wives, senior Tatmadaw officers and their wives, ambassadors from embassies in Yangon, chargé d’affaires ad iterim, military attachés, representatives of UN, officials and invitees. — MNA/KTZH
