Thai officials handed over 77 Myanmar migrant workers - 56 men and 21 women who wish to return home to their Myanmar counterparts at the Myanmar-Thailand friendship bridge-2 in Myawaddy Township, Kayin State on August 30.

Myanmar officials shared knowledge about the danger of COVID-19 pandemic to the returnees after being welcomed and then registered their information.

The returnees who are from Bago Region, Tanintharyi Region and Mon State were sent to Semyone quarantine centre in the town of Mawlamyine, Mon State while the returnees who are from other regions and states were sent to the Shwe Myawaddy quarantine centre in the town of Myawaddy, Kayin State.

If they are free of COVID-19, they will be sent back to their place of residence after being placed under 10-day observation at the quarantine centre. But the returnees with COVID-19 will isolate for more 10 days.—Zar Pyu Win(IPRD)
