A total of 7,732 acres of butter bean will be planted in Pwintbyu Township of Magway Region in this year’s winter crops planting season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.

With the aim of boosting the income from crops and ensuring food security, butter beans are being grown in winter crops planting season in Pwintbyu Township annually. Therefore, the Township plans to grow 7,732 acres of butter bean in this year’s winter crops planting season.

"In this year’s winter crops growing season, Pwintbyu Township plans to cultivate 7,732 acres of butter bean in the entire township to boost the income of farmers and ensuring food security’’, said Daw Moe Moe Wai, staff officer of the Township Department of Agriculture.  “Now, efforts are being made to meet the targeted areas and farmers will be provided with necessary assistance”, she added.

In order to meet the target, the Township Agriculture Department is making field trips and sharing knowledge on agricultural techniques including good quality seeds, systematic ways of growing and prevention of pest infestation to farmers in collaboration with relevant department.—Hlaing Win Lay(Pwintbyu Mye)
