11 March
AA insurgents reportedly attacked a border fence construction site in Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, on 9 March, according to a statement released by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
On Saturday afternoon, about 200 AA insurgents launched an attack from three directions, from the neighboring Bangladeshi territory, on the construction site, which is located between BP-67 and BP-68, according to the statement.
Following the fight between the AA insurgents and the security forces, workers at the site were moved to safety.
Construction work on the fence along the Bangladesh and Myanmar border began in 2010. The work has been divided into four stages, and so far, more than 120 miles of border fencing has been completed.
According to the statement from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, security forces will carry out appropriate security operations against AA insurgents, as they are threatening the territory and the sovereignty of the State, and the property and lives of the local people. — MNA (Translated by KZL)
