The Japanese government plans to reschedule Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to India.The move comes amid intensifying violence in parts of the country he is due to visit.
Abe was due to leave Japan for India on Sunday for the three-day trip.
He was expected to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visit places including Guwahati, a major city in the northeastern state of Assam.
But the passage of an amendment to the country's citizenship law has sparked violent protests in Assam.
