Under the arrangement of Asia Development Bank (ADB), a total of 1,200 wells will be dug in villages which are not available water for sowing crops in Pwintbyu Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, according to an official from the Township Department of Irrigation and Water Management.

 

The project that will be implemented by ADB will start in 2019-2020 FY and it will take seven years to complete the project. Therefore, the officials from the Department of Irrigation and Water Management and Township Department of Agriculture made a field trip to survey the villages with water scarcity in the township.

 

With the aim of receiving more income and upgrading socioeconomic development of farmers and improving development of Township agricultural sector, the seven-year plan will be implemented in the township. Upon completion, agricultural water will be available for about 15,000 acres of farmland.
