The Department of Educational Planning and Training under the Ministry of Border Affairs opened an advanced sewing course at a vocational training school in Myeik, Taninthayi Region this morning.

Taninthayi Region Minister for Security and Border Affairs Col Kyaw Zeya delivered an opening address and principal of the school Daw Su Myat Aye clarified matters relating to the training course. The course aimed at uplifting human resource development of ethnic people in border areas and improving their socioeconomic status offers a wide range of training techniques plus necessary equipment and teaching aid materials to the trainees.


The 18-week course is being attended by 50 trainees throughout Myeik and Dawei Districts. In addition travel expenses for the trainees are borne by the department and outstanding trainees will be awarded with sewing machines.—Khaing Htoo (IPRD)
