MYANMAR national women’s football team claimed a dominant 8-0 victory over Turkmenistan in their opening Group C match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers held on 29 June at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yangon.
Myanmar opened the scoring early with Win Win finding the net in the 11th minute. Despite a penalty awarded to Turkmenistan in the 23rd minute, goalkeeper Myo Mya Mya Nyein successfully saved Turkmenistan player’s spot kick. Myanmar doubled the lead in the 28th minute with another goal from Win Win, who completed her hat-trick before half-time.
Before the break, Khin Mo Mo Tun added a fourth goal. Substitutes in the second half further strengthened the attack, with goals from San Thaw Thaw in the 48 minute, May Htet Luu in 52 minute, Khin Mo Mo Tun in 65 minute and Shwe Yi Tun in the 90+3 minute, securing a clean-sheet win.
The next Group C match day will be held on 2 July at Thuwunna ground, where Myanmar will face Bangladesh at 4 pm, followed by Bahrain versus Turkmenistan at 7 pm. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
