MYANMAR will take on Laos at the AFF U-18 Next Media Cup 2019 today evening at the Binh Duong Fields in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, according to a media briefing yesterday at the Ramana Hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
“The teams in our group are strong teams, but we will compete to get good results. We are also prepared for the matches and hope to advance to the next level,” said U Soe Myat Min, the Myanmar chief coach, at the press conference.
For the tourney, Myanmar has been placed in Group A with Indonesia, Laos, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, and Brunei, while Malaysia, Thailand, host Viet Nam, Australia, Cambodia, and Singapore are in Group B.
Each team will face each other in a round-robin format in the group stage before the top two teams from Groups A and B progress to the semi finals.
The semifinals are scheduled to be played on 17 August at the Go Dau Stadium, and the play-off for the third place as well as the final will take place on 19 August at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.
Last year, Myanmar was defeated by Malaysia in the final. Thailand have been the most successful team in the competition, having won the title five times. — Kyaw Khin
