THE Agriculture Department invited soybean companies to submit an Expression of In­terest to export soybeans to China.

 

According to the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Protocol (SPS Protocol) signed between Myanmar and China, sanitary and phytosanitary measures are undertaken yearly, and the department notified the soy­bean companies.

 

The submission of the EOI is by 28 February and the EOI form is available at the Depart­ment of Agriculture in regions and states.

 

The country primarily cul­tivates paddy, maize, cotton, sugarcane, various pulses and beans. Its second-largest pro­duction is pulses and beans, accounting for 33 per cent of agricultural produce and cov­ering 20 per cent of growing acres. Black beans, pigeon peas, green gram, peanuts, chickpeas, soybeans, black-eyed beans, butter beans, rice beans and other pulses are grown in the country. — NN/KK
