The alumni of 1965 to 1985 at the Basic Education High School No.1 Latha, formally Central High School, paid respect to their teachers at the Baho Sanpya Hall of the school in Latha Township, Yangon yesterday.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, was one of the former students paying respect to fifty teachers at the ceremony.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing first paid respects to the teachers and offered them gifts. He then caught up with the other alumni and conferred monetary awards to students who achieved outstanding academic performances.
With the striking of the school bell 27 times, everyone began singing the song ‘High School Kyaung Taw Gyi’.

The old alumni then paid respect to their teachers in the traditional manner, and on behalf of the teachers, Sayagyi U Kaung and Sayamagyi Daw Phyu Phyu delivered Ovada speeches.

Afterwards, Headmaster U Tin Maung Aye, the Respect Paying Organizing Committee Chairman U Tin Maung Myint and patron of health and providing care committee U Khin Maung Sein gave greeting remarks.

Next, the doctors and nurses who took care of the aged teachers and the people who aided for the respect paying ceremony were presented with gifts.

On behalf of the old students, U Zaw Lwin expressed gratitude. This was followed by the students presenting their teachers with homage gifts.

Afterwards, the teachers and students took commemorative photos, according to news released by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
