ANCIENT Inwa was busier with tourists on weekends than ever, according to author and researcher Bo Shake (Yadanapura).

As it is near the highway with easy accessibility, Inwa has attracted many visitors.

Since the dry season this year, there has been a steady influx of tourists, in the past, it was only crowded on full moon and new moon days, but now it is also busy on weekends.

“Inwa is different from previous years. This year, visitor arrivals have increased significantly during the non-rainy season. This year can be said to be busy with tourists. Tourist arrival is continuous even on weekends, with people from Yangon, Mandalay and the nearby areas. It is easily accessible due to its adjacent location to the highway,” he said.

He added that foreign tourists were among visitors and Inwa could also be busy with travellers in Thingyan.

During this year’s tourist season, which is the dry season in Thadingyut and Tazaungdine, a significant increase in domestic tourists has been seen in many destinations, including Bagan-NyaungU, Popa, Kyaiktiyo, Taunggyi, Kalaw, Inlay and Ngwehsaung. — MT/ZN
