ANCIENT objects were discovered on 25 August while a man was digging the ground to renovate a pagoda in Wayar village in Kani Township. He won K1.5 billion lottery jackpot. 

“Our Wayar village has a pagoda precinct which is next to a historical pagoda named Shwe Mu Htaw. There are also many trees in those areas. One of our villagers won K1.5 billion lottery jackpot. The lottery winner family wants to renovate an ancient religious edifice. After this Buddhist Lent, they will start to renovate the walls in the first phase and then renovate the pagoda. Today we found many ancient objects while we were digging the ground,” said a monk named Sayadaw U Wai Pon. 

The discovered antiques are ancient Buddha statues, stone stupas, pots and palmleaf manuscripts. The villagers are still discussing how to manage those found old objects.

“The Buddha statues have no heads and arms. The palmleaf manuscripts date back to the Inwa period. But we haven’t examined all the palm-leaf manuscripts yet,” said Sayadaw U Wai Pon.
