LOCAL and foreign travellers visit Bagan’s Ancient Cultur­al Heritage Zone and tourist destinations, where the ancient cultural heritages are concen­trated, during the dry season. The ancient pagodas and the displays of locally produced handicrafts in the Bagan cul­tural zone not only attract local and foreign travellers but also provide them with a sense of appreciation.

 

All the travellers to Bagan enjoy the horse cart ride, buy the hand painting, sand paint­ings, wall paintings, Vachellia leucophloea tree-hanging pup­pets, Bagan umbrellas, large bowls, and also take photos. They also like wearing Thanaka and hair braiding. Moreover, they take a hot-air balloon ride to watch the Bagan region and the beauty of the Ayeyawady River with the scenes of sunrise and sunset.

 

“Among the ASEAN re­gions, Myanmar’s Bagan an­cient cultural zone is a concen­tration of valuable pagodas and temples. The local and foreign travellers enjoy hand painting and acrylic painting in front of a famous pagoda or temple. The displays of puppets and Bagan umbrellas that are con­served as the cultural heritage of Bagan can create a sense of joy for travellers and highlight the dignity of Bagan. The ar­chitectural artworks and wall paintings of ancient pagodas offer memorable events. There­fore, we warmly welcome the local and foreign travellers to Bagan ancient cultural zone in the non-rainy season,” said U Myo Myint Aung, assistant director of the Directorate of Hotel and Tourism (Bagan).

 

Pathein umbrellas are fa­mous in Myanmar handicrafts, and travellers also recognize the Bagan umbrellas with paintings on canvas. They also buy puppets from six inches to one foot in size. There are 3,822 pagodas, stupas and temples constructed by Bagan Kings in 14,295 square feet wide Bagan.

 

The displays of puppets and Bagan umbrellas under the Vachellia leucophloea trees at Shwezigon, Htilo­minlo, Alotawpyae, Arnanda, Buphaya, Thatbyinnyu, Dham­mayangyi, Shwesandaw, Loka Nanda, Shwekuncha, Manu­ha, Myazedi, Hngetpyittaung, Tuyin Hill and other pagodas, highlight the picturesque scenes of pagodas and the local and foreign travellers are also satisfied with that. — Thitsa (MNA)/KTZH
