The ASEAN Food Festival 2019 continued into its third day after it started on 17th August.
The event takes place at Mandalay Convention Center on Thaikpan Road in Mandalay city, and it is jointly organized by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Mandalay Regional Government, Myanmar Restaurant Association and Myanmar Hotelier Association.
Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung and officials visited the festival yesterday.
The festival is aimed to introduce Myanmar people and tourists with the arrays of food items from ASEAN member countries and its partner countries of Japan, China, Republic of Korea and India under the plan to promote ‘Food Tourism’ in Myanmar.
The event also showcases the booths of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, ASEAN countries, Japan, China, Republic of Korea and India, regions and states Restaurant Associations and Myanmar Hotelier Association.
The booths of traditional foods, products and souvenirs have also attracted the visitors.
A total of 14 countries from ASEAN and partner countries take part with over 130 booths in this festival that includes a special demonstration of having meals by ‘daunglan’, a circular tray made with lacquered bamboo, production of beverages and traditional dances of ethnic people.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
