ASEAN+3 donates emergency rice rations to Shwegyin

The Agricultural Department oversaw the handing over of ten tons of emergency rice rations from South Korea, in line with ASEAN+3 procedures, to flood-stricken people in Shwegyin Township, Bago Region, yesterday.


During the handover ceremony, Bago Regional Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Aung Zaw Naing, delivered the opening address and the Agricultural Department’s Director-General, Dr Ye Tint Tun, explained the rice donation of ASEAN+3.


The director-general then handed over the rice donated under the Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) programme to the regional 
minister. Next, the regional minister U Aung Zaw Naing, regional MP U Nyi Nyi Htwe director-general Dr Ye Tint Tun and Deputy Director-General U Aye Ko Ko handed over the 250 rice bags to officials for the affected local residents.
