Tachilek, 12 February

 

In celebration of the 78th Union Day, the opening ceremony of an asphalt concrete (AC) road was held in the early morning of 12 February on Poon Nyak Road in San Saeng (B) Ward, Tachilek, Shan State (East).

 

The ceremony began with Colonel Kyaw Min Tun from the Tactical Operations Command in Tachilek, U Min Ko, Chairman of the District Administration Body, and local town elders cutting a ceremonial ribbon to officially open the road. Following the ribbon-cutting, U Kyaw Min Htay, Executive Officer of the Township Development Committee, and town elders presented commemorative gifts to the attendees.

 

U Zaw Myint then expressed words of gratitude on behalf of the donors. Afterward, Colonel Kyaw Min Tun and other officials inspected the newly opened asphalt concrete road.

 

Construction of the 870-foot-long, 18-foot-wide, and 3-inch-thick asphalt concrete road began on 8 February, with an investment of Ks 700 million from the Township Development Committee. The road was officially inaugurated on 12 February to mark the 78th Anniversary of Union Day.—Kyaw Zayyar Linn
