A mushroom growing course for persons with disabilities was opened at the office of the Department of Disaster Management in Pathein, the capital city of Ayeyawady Region this morning.

The vocational training course is jointly organized by the Department of Social Welfare, the Department of Agriculture, and Shwe Minn Tha Foundation with the financial support of Australian Embassy in Yangon. Speeches by concerned officials from the Department of Social Welfare, Department of Disaster Management, and a regional lawmaker followed. Next, an official from the Department of Agriculture and President of Shwe Minn Tha U Myat Thu Win extended greetings and explained the purpose of the course.
A total of 40 trainees will be given practical and theoretical trainings during 4-day course with the aim of creating job opportunities for disabled people in the region and increasing their income.
