Ayeyawady River exceeds its danger mark in Katha Township

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology’s observations today, the water level of the Ayeyawady River in Katha Township, Sagaing Region reached 1,063 centimeters, 23 centimeters above its danger level.

503 residents from 104 households in the township were evacuated from their homes to a rescue camp on 14 July as the water level of Ayeyawady River continued to rise due to heavy rains. Departmental officials and volunteers from local philanthropic associations help 262 flood victims from 75 households throughout the township move to a temporary relief camp, according to a source from the General Administration Department.—Han Myo Kyaw (Katha)
