Three players from Ayeyawady United FC were chosen for Myanmar U-23 men’s tentative football squad, according to the Pathein-based club.
Striker Aung Kaung Mahn, midfielder Lwin Moe Aung and defender Soe Moe Kyaw were picked up by Myanmar U-23 men’s football team’s Bulgarian Head Coach Velizar Emilov Popov. Qualifiers of Group I for the AFC U 23 Championship 2020 will be hosted in Yangon in March 2019, the MFF said. Myanmar U-23 men’s football team is pooled in Group I together with Japan, East Timor, and Macau. A total of 44 teams were drawn into 11 groups of four teams.
The eleventh group winners and the four best runners-up will qualify for the football tournament which is scheduled to be held from 8 to 26 January 2020 in Thailand. Myanmar will compete with Japan, Timor-Leste and Macau in a round robin format in the Group-I. The group winner will qualify directly for the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship to be held in Thailand.—By Kyaw Htike Soe
