An opening ceremony of the bamboo handicraft course 7/2019 conducted by Loikaw Township Rural Development Department was convened at Youth Centre of Darsanbone village, Pankane village-tract, Loikaw Townahip, Kayah State this morning.
Deputy Director of Kayah State Rural Development Department U Saw Dee De delivered an introductory speech, disclosing the creation of new bamboo crafts to be replaced with traditional ones such as Taungkwe Pagoda and Kayah traditional drum to attract the local and foreign visitors. The free course aims to enhance the job opportunities and income generation as well as the emergence of young craftsmen.
Also present on the occasion was Head of District Rural Development Department U Thein Htike, Head of the Township RDD Daw Ei Ei Khin, Head of Small Scale Industry U Aung Khant, trainees and others. The one month-course is being attended by 25 trainees from Loikaw Township.–Ko Soe (Loikaw)
