Bamboo shoots harvested in the monsoon season taste sweet, and beyond the monsoon season, only salted bamboo shoots are available. People prefer sweet bamboo shoots rather than salted ones.
“Bamboo shoot has high consumption. Sweet bamboo shoots are available during the monsoon season, and people like them more. Bamboo shoots are preserved by salting to stock for the whole year. So many people buy it now. All are sold out shortly after they arrive,” said an official from the Aye Saytana wholesale trading centre in Mandalay.
This period is bamboo shoot harvest time in many areas, and the trading is going well.
