THE Bar Council is seek­ing a formal review from the Supreme Court of the Union to take disciplinary action against 13 lawyers accused of violating pro­fessional codes of con­duct.

 

The decision was finalized during a Bar Council meeting held on 8 July in Nay Pyi Taw. Of­ficials discussed penaliz­ing the legal practitioners under Section 10(A) of the Bar Council Act.

 

Chaired by Union Minister for Legal Affairs, Union Attorney-General, and Bar Council Chair Dr Thida Oo, the session also addressed several key regulatory matters. Agen­da items included review­ing advocate admission applications submitted by 164 lawyers, filling vacant seats within the council, and evaluating public complaints. Additionally, members deliberated on proposed amendments to the rules and regulations governing advocate ad­missions and finalized the archiving of official order copies.
