A ceremony to wrap up a basic course on natural disaster risk management was held at Bo Uttama hall of the township General Administration Department in Pwint Phyu township, Magway region on 29th November.
At the ceremony, Daw Kay Thwel Win, head of Minbu District Disaster Risk Management Department, in her speech, urged the trainees to use the techniques they learned during the course in helping local people in case of natural disasters, taking a prompt action when faced with natural disasters and to share the knowledge they gained from the course with members of the public. Then, officials presented certificates to a delegate of the trainees.
The course concentrated on natural disaster management laws, concepts, disaster risk reduction, environmental conservation techniques, evasive natural disaster warning systems, community-based basic natural disaster management techniques, drawing natural disaster management plans and emergency healthcare techniques.
A total of 50 trainees from the township GAD, the township Fire Services Department, the township Maternal and Childcare Associaton, the township Women Affairs Association, the township Red Cross Society and members of social organizations passed the five-day course that run from 25 to 29 November.—Ye Win Naing ( Nyaung Oo)
