A ceremony to provide cash assistance to the farmers whose farmlands were damaged by the disasters took place at the meeting room of the General Administration Department in Bhamo, Kachin State yesterday afternoon.
On the occasion, Township Administrator U Soe Myint Hlaing delivered an address and an official from the township NLD and the Department of Agriculture explained matters relating to the damaged croplands in the township. Next, the township administrator and concerned officials handed over cash assistance to the village administrators.
5718 acres of croplands belonging to the farmers from 32 villages were destroyed by the disasters last year and a total of K 57.1 million was provided to farmers at a rate of K 10000 per acre, according to an official from the Department of Agriculture.
