A ceremony to hoist religious umbrellas atop Nyeinchanyay Zina Manaung Pagoda and Aungtawmu Pagoda was held Namtpeinlin Village, Mese Township in Kayah State on Sunday morning.

           

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister of Kayah State U L Phoung Sho and his wife Daw Myint Myint Maw, Kayah State Advocate-General U Sai Kyaw Zan, Lower House MP U Sai Pan Pha, Upper House Lawmaker U Than Lin Lin, the secretary of the local government, Bolakhe District Deputy Commissioner U Thein Aung, departmental officials, guests and local people.

At first, the congregation led by the chief minister opened the ceremony by reciting “Namo Tassa” three times and received the “Nine Precepts” from the presiding Sayadaw of  Ngwetaung Pariyati Monastery in Phasaung Township. The chief minister and well-wishers conveyed the tiers of umbrella, relics, diamond orb and pennant shape vane round the pagoda.

 

They then stored relics in the upper reliquary of the pagoda and hoisted the umbrella tiers atop the pagoda and shared merits gained. Next, the chief minister and party offered a day meal to members of the Sangha.—Wutyi (IPRD)
