Build a healthy, wealthy and thriving world for all peoples

THE United Nations founded by the global countries in 1945 aims to serve the global people to grasp peace and security. So, the Myanmar people prayed for the best wishes for better realization of the UN’s goals that genuinely reflect the needs of people in the current era.

Seventy-six years ago, the establishment of the UN made history with its noble aims. Its goals emerged from all aspects of the world—from poverty reduction to taking care of the environment, which may vary year by year. But its core value remains unchanged—to gather in unity out of diversity to create a peaceful, just and prosperous world.

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, all the global countries need to create greater strength of unity and solidarity among them to tackle the issue as a global challenge. It is timely for the UN to reinforce the unity and solidarity among its member nations and to ensure more inclusive multilateral arrangments, only by which political, economic, social and environmental needs and wishes of the world population can be best served and balanced, allowing well-being and sustainable development for children and future generations.

Myanmar strives for saving the lives of the people with the provision of healthcare services while focusing on peace and stability so as to bring the country back to normalcy and its path to democracy in accordance with the 2008 Constitution amidst the challenges and hindrances.

As Myanmar is committed to achieving lasting perpetual peace, the Tatmadaw announced a ceasefire twenty times from 21 December 2018 to date. As part of supporting the Secretary-General’s Appeal for Global Ceasefire, the Tatmadaw on 27 September 2021 also made another announcement to further extend the ceasefire period for five months from 1 October 2021 to 28 February 2022.

The UN should remain a beacon of hope for people, wherein “We the peoples” should unite our strength in supporting the UN to properly function its tasks vested by the Charter. It is vital for the UN to ensure these noble values apply to all nations without political motives in the face of growing doubts on multilateralism.

Myanmar pledges to cooperate with the UN and other member countries in support of constructive efforts of the Organization to build a healthy, wealthy and thriving world for all the people.
