The Township Agriculture Department has earmarked 18,060 acres for planting winter sunflowers in Butalin Township, Monywa District, Sagaing Region. As of now, 18,195 acres have been cultivated, exceeding the planting target by 135 acres.
This winter, local farmers have planted sunflowers on both standard and experimental plots to improve the yield of hybrid-1, Sinshwe-2 and other sunflower varieties. Under the close supervision and guidance of the Region Agriculture Department, officials from the relevant district and township Agriculture Departments are providing farmers with essential assistance, including agricultural technologies and high-quality seeds. They are also collaborating with other departments to implement preventive measures against pests and diseases.
Winter sunflowers were first planted on October 1 last year, and a total of 18,195 acres have been planted to date. — District (IPRD)
